Hi everyone! My name is Gregory, and I am from Raleigh, North Carolina. I have organized my gap year around exploring my academic interests and solidifying my commitment to community service. In terms of my academic interests, I hope to take some classes at other institutions as a part-time student to help me better decide the path that I want to take once I return to Duke in the Fall of 2025.
Throughout my gap year, I will volunteer with the North Carolina American Red Cross in numerous opportunities, from supporting youth volunteerism to assisting at blood centers. During my gap year, I hope to support volunteerism through the American Red Cross by supporting a group of high school and college volunteers in organizing opportunities available to all North Carolina Red Cross youth members. We hope these opportunities will help increase volunteer engagement among youth in North Carolina! I also aim to continue my commitment to volunteering at blood centers to help aid donors’ experience during their donations, especially at a time of immense shortages in the Red Cross’ blood supply.
Along with these commitments, I hope to seek further opportunities that will allow me to experience working and bettering the lives of others in a medical setting, such as at a hospital or clinic.
