Hey everyone! My name is Akira, and I’m from Colorado. I love spending my time hiking 14ers, cooking new dishes, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. I’ve always been passionate about exploring the world around me and trying new things, and I’m really excited to continue doing so through this amazing opportunity. First, I’ll spend a few months in Japan, learning the language and culture. Through this experience, I hope to immerse myself in an environment unlike anything I’ve encountered before, broadening my understanding of and deepening my appreciation for global cultures. Next, I’ll be backpacking the Camino de Santiago, starting in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, and ending in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This pilgrimage route is 500 miles long, and with nothing but a backpack and a Polaroid, I am looking forward to all the memories I’ll make and the friends I’ll meet along the way. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for me, and I’m excited to share my adventures with you.
