Hello! My name is Sophia and I’m from Chapel Hill, NC. This year, I’ll be traveling to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, through the National Security Language Institute for Youth, a State Department scholarship for high schoolers interested in learning critical languages. During my year in Kaohsiung, I’ll be taking Mandarin Chinese lessons at Wenzao Ursuline University and living with a Taiwanese host family. I’ll also be participating in elective classes, field trips, and community service projects with the rest of this year’s Kaohsiung NSLI-Y cohort. I’m so excited for this experience and look forward to sharing it with you!
