Natasha

Hi everyone! My name is Natasha and I’m from Miami, Florida. During my gap year, I will complete intensive Chinese (Mandarin) language study at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages in Kaohsiung, Taiwan for 9-10 months as part of the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Academic Year Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. As a part of this program, I will live with a host family for the duration of my gap year, take other elective courses at the local university, complete independent research and other projects, participate in cultural activities and excursions, and volunteer in the local community. I am excited for the opportunity to improve my language proficiency, connect with my host community, and challenge myself beyond the boundaries of my comfort zone. I am so grateful for Duke’s support and can’t wait to share my experiences!
