Hi! I’m Alessandra (or Ale) from the Bay Area, California. My gap year consists of trying new things that I haven’t had time to explore in the past so that I can learn more about myself! I’m beginning with taking painting, pottery, and computer science classes at a local community college to dive into new areas of study. I am also going to coach synchronized swimming at my club, the Santa Clara Aquamaids, which I aged out of at the end of high school. During this time, I will continue taking piano lessons to continue my music. From there, I will participate in a 4-6 week long gap year program to Thailand and Cambodia where I will embark on a period of self-reflection, adventure, and service. I will explore different historical landmarks, temples, and nature in these countries with a small cohort of other students, leading and planning our travel itinerary! I hope to go on a few other family trips both locally and nationally given the extra time I have this year. I’m eager to enjoy the relaxation, adventure, growth, and fun that this gap year has in store for me. I’m very excited to see where this year takes me and hope you will join in reading my blog posts!
