Hi! My name is Benjamin from Cary, North Carolina, 20 minutes from Duke’s campus! During my gap year, I’d mainly like to spend more quality time with family by playing board games, cooking, and playing basketball together. Aside from that, one of my goals this year is to become a national master in chess, a longtime goal of mine as a competitive chess player. I also hope to travel to Japan, where I’d have the opportunity to experience the unique culture while exploring the metropolitan area of Tokyo. Potentially, I will travel to various parts of the US in hopes to learn about the vast cultural differences across the states. In my free time, I am keeping my mind sharp by learning computer science and reading.
