Hello everyone. My name Is John and I am from Summit NJ. I am spending my summer working on a marine aquaculture farm raising clams and oysters. My day-to-day responsibilities vary wildly. From digging clams in the mud flats to building and maintaining infrastructure on land to packing and delivering clams to our customers, every day is different. On my days off I am working to complete my private pilot’s license. In mid-September I will head to Wyoming for a month to get my Wilderness EMT certification. Then I head to Costa Rica for two months to work on my Spanish skills and intern at a marine science lab. After spending the holidays with friends and family I plan to get a job or volunteer from mid-January until April or May. I will spend the summer before Duke working in the outdoor industry, hopefully raft guiding in Idaho or Alaska.
