After getting back to my hometown in early May, I started proctoring AP exams at my old high school. It was a nice way to stay busy and earn a little extra money, and being back in the building brought back plenty of familiar memories. That same week, I went to watch my high school’s volleyball team compete in the conference championship. They ended up winning, which was a great moment to witness—especially seeing a lot of my former classmates on the court.
Later in the month, I went on a short camping and biking trip with my mom and brother in Pomfret, Connecticut. We spent the day biking through a mix of open country roads and wooded trails, stopping occasionally to take in the scenery or just catch our breath. When we got to our campsite, we set up a tent big enough for the three of us, grilled corn and burgers over the fire, and made s’mores as the sun went down. It was only a night, but it was nice spending quality time with my brother and mom.
In early June, I flew out to Los Angeles for my brother’s graduation from UCLA. It was a big milestone for him, and a really special few days for our family.
Since then, I’ve been running a small youth sports camp at my house. Most days are packed with basketball, volleyball, relay races, and on hotter afternoons, water balloon games. It’s been a lively way to stay active, connect with the neighborhood kids, and bring some structure and fun to summer days.
The rest of my summer will mostly be spent reading, running camp, and getting ready to start at Duke this fall.
