Mitchell

Hi! I am Mitchell Millard. I grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, and have lived there my whole life. I have traveled around the United States but have not yet been abroad. I am excited about what my Duke gap year has to offer, and I’ll use it to travel and dive deeper into my interests. I will be spending this fall in Catalonia to immerse myself in Spanish culture and language, an opportunity that would not be possible if it were not for the Duke Gap Year Program.

After I return home from the New Year’s holidays, I will begin the National Outdoor Leadership School’s Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT) program in Wyoming, learning both wilderness medicine and urban medical care. Additionally, I will be getting my pharmacy technician certificate.

In the spring, I will travel to the Netherlands to explore the origins of my family’s traditions, experience living abroad, and visit surrounding European countries. I am thrilled to take on new challenges and wonders on my journey with the Duke Gap Year Program.
