Hi everyone! My name is Macy, and I’m from Chattanooga, Tennessee. I will be exploring my gap year with Baret Scholars, a program which takes students across the world in an endeavor to give them a more comprehensive view of the planet and its people. With Baret, I will travel to seven different regions around the globe and spend time immersing myself in the unique culture of each one. I’ll live in seven host cities: New York, São Paulo, Paris, Istanbul, Nairobi, New Delhi, and Beijing, where I’ll learn from experts in diverse fields of study. Between each major city, I will go on a ten day speciality program such as traveling down the Amazon or studying Cold War politics in Berlin. Through this program, I hope to expose myself to various new ways of life and gain a deeper understanding of the world and myself. I’m so grateful for the Duke Gap Year Program for providing me with this once in a lifetime opportunity!
