Hi everyone! My name is Laurel-Ann Attaway, and I am from Ruffin, North Carolina. I have always loved traveling, so I am very excited to spend my gap year exploring the world and meeting new people.
To begin my gap year, I will be touring New Zealand before heading to Australia to earn my divemaster certification. I will then travel to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, go on a safari, and teach English to children in a local village. Afterwards, I will backpack across Europe and Asia while volunteering, taking culinary and dance classes, exploring history, and immersing myself in diverse cultures. I will wrap up my gap year in Montenegro, where I will have the opportunity to assist in dolphin research.
I am excited for all of the possibilities this year will bring and am very grateful for the support from the Duke Gap Year Program.
