My name is Joaquín Cham Hsu, and I’m from Taipei, Taiwan. I speak English, Spanish, and Mandarin, and I’ll be majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Duke (CO2027).
During my gap year, I hope to have a terrific amount of fun while making once-in-a-lifetime memories 😀
From August to September, I’ll be in Panama, working on some online certifications, learning how to cook, and studying for my Portuguese citizenship language exam.
In October, I’ll be backpacking across Europe with friends, starting in Greece/the Balkans and ending in Portugal.
In November, I plan to backpack across Peru, stopping to sandboard in Huacachina.
From December to March, I’ll be in Asia: snowboarding in Hokkaido, Japan; volunteering at an orphanage in Kaohsiung, Taiwan; and backpacking in China.
You’ll find me in Los Angeles, USA for the rest of the year (April-July), training for my Private Pilot’s license.. During my off-time, I’ll also work/shadow at the aircraft hangars.
