Hello! I’m Caroline, I’m from Los Angeles, and I’m spending my gap year doing all sorts of engineering-related endeavours while traveling. I am curious about what the world has to offer outside of Los Angeles, and I’m excited for any opportunity to learn. This fall, I’m traveling to Cape Town, South Africa, to intern at an electric ukulele business. I’m going to spend some time working in LA before heading off to Patagonia and Peru, where I’m going to help out on some farms, contribute to a renewable energy project, and hike. I’ll be in the Netherlands and neighboring European countries in the spring for personal travel. I’m really looking forward to leaving this experience with a clearer understanding of my professional goals, greater independence, and meaningful connections. I’ll arrive at Duke knowing how to make decisions in the face of millions of options, carrying an insight of what is worth saying yes to and what is not.
