Hi! My name is Carla, and I’m from France, but I live in San Juan, Puerto Rico. For my gap year, I’m doing somewhat of a “world tour”: summer in Europe, fall in Africa, winter in Oceania, and spring/summer in Asia. I’ll be traveling and exploring, along with working and volunteering along the way. Some highlights I’m excited about are; working in a vineyard in the south of France during the harvest, hiking Mount Kilimanjaro, doing marine research on a very remote island in the Seychelles for two months, visiting Australia and seeing the Sydney Harbor on New Year’s Eve, coral reef conservation work in Indonesia, and going to countries in Southeast Asia I’ve never seen before and don’t know much about. I’m incredibly excited to see what this year will bring and how it’ll influence me at Duke and beyond!
