Hi, my name is Henry. In my gap year, I am spending a month on a NOLS course learning glaciering in the Himalayas. I intend to use that incredible opportunity as a chance to explore India as well. I then plan on volunteering at an olive farm in Italy and taking the opportunity to satisfy my curiosity about all things Roman to explore the Roman countryside. From there, I will spend the next few months doing service work in Denmark, in order to learn my cultural heritage. I see this gap year as a chance to grow my self confidence, work on my independence, and look within myself to find my deeper interests before embarking on my career at Duke.
